Food Safety/Quality Manager

El Dorado Packaging is a recently formed company with manufacturing roots that go back to the 1950s. El Dorado Bag began working with consumer packaging, and the manufacturing of Self Opening Sacks (SOS), in the 1950s. In 1962 two multi-wall facilities opened, focusing on the large bag market. These two companies became El Dorado Packaging in 2014 with headquarters in Rosemount, Minnesota.  El Dorado Packaging has grown into three manufacturing facilities, earning its reputation as a leading manufacturer of custom packaging solutions.  El Dorado Packaging (Omaha, NE) produces multi-wall flexible packaging for food, agriculture, and animal health products and is a VPP Star site (occupational health and safety).


General Summary:

Food Safety and Quality Manager is responsible for food safety certification and quality including continuous improvement. Establishes and ensures knowledge and execution of standards, processes, and procedures for the plant to maintain a food safety, lean, and operationally efficient work environment.


  • Leads the quality and compliance for the plant and maintains quality policies, practices, and documentation.
  • Serves as point of contact for customer quality requirements, audits, and complaints.
  • Maintains records for inspection and test plans.
  • Customer complaints: works with Sales, Customer Service, and Plant Manufacturing leaders to research and resolves issues. Manages customer corrective action process working with customers by phone and through correspondence regarding short term and long-term corrective actions and problem resolution. Be available for Customer visits to their plants – records reports quality and complaint information using 8D methodology.
  • Leads regular quality audits for the plant with follow up activities directed to production supervisors and crews. Assists with the development, sustainment, and training execution of quality plans that will improve quality and reduce the costs associated with poor quality.

Food Safety

  • Leads plant for food safety and certifications/audits ensuring compliance with required standards.
  • Leads for current SQF (Safe Quality Food) and/or AIB (American Institute of Baking) certification.
  • Obtains required knowledge of food safety regulations and requirements to train staff.
  • Conducts internal monthly audits and reports findings. Leads follow up actions through completion including ensuring employee corrective actions and behaviors are changed where necessary. Coordinates annual audit with external governing body to ensure their inspection is completed on time and meets required standards.
  • Stays current on food safety certifications (such as SQF and AIB), industry requirements, and leads execution.


  • Leads plant safety program and processes in partnership with plant general manager and leadership team and with input from employees, develops safety programs, processes, and goals.
  • Leads and maintains safety observances, including but not limited to use of PPE (personal protective equip), ensuring guards and safety features are working, and promoting good daily safety practices and habits.
  • Conducts and reviews safety audits, makes action plans and corrections where necessary, and celebrates success. Leads monthly safety meeting and employee trainings and manages ongoing safety awareness initiatives with employee coaching, progress updates, and action plans.
  • Leads implementation of behavioral based safety observations at the plant and records and reports in Industry Safe system.
  • Stays current on OSHA safety and industry requirements and leads execution. Manages required OSHA reporting. Leads safety campaigns, which may include videos, contests, trainings, etc., based on trends and ensures safety culture.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong operations experience to develop and document Standard Operating Processes
  • Experience with quality and lean to lead identification and implementation of process improvements
  • Analytical skills to document, track, and measure opportunities and improvements
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Safe Quality Food program (SQF), and HACCP.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to be able to teach, inspire, motivate, coach, train, and partner with hourly production employees, supervisors, and office staff.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a process from start to finish, involving others as necessary
  • PC proficiency including Microsoft office products and manufacturing and ERP systems
  • Strong customer service and quality focus to lead and integrate quality into processes

Quality Engineer

Aerotek has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join a manufacturing plant in Lindsay, NE. The Quality Engineer will support the overall success of the Quality department and efforts at the plant.  Specifically, effectiveness in the following areas will be of top focus: production quality, ISO program, supplier quality, and warranty process.

 Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop process improvements that focus to reduce cost of goods sold
  • Implement control plans and PFMEA in primary areas of responsibility
  • Focus on supplier quality verification process and associated metrics
  • Overall process improvements within quality to positively impact the baseline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years of quality experience
  • Thorough understanding of quality management systems (preferably ISO)
  • Thorough understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems (SPC, Lean/Six Sigma), CIP
  • Ability to inspect & determine application of electrical & mechanical components
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes & capabilities in a metal machining environment
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deploy robust manufacturing processes that utilize APQP toolset (Control Plans & FMEA)
  • Demonstrated success in executing supplier quality processes
  • Experience managing customer facing issues
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills
